Music you should be listening to 12/7/2010 edition
Today’s choices are both electronic music collections. Nothing says Christmas time like 808′s and four on the floor kicks…well in my house. None the less, if you’re an electronic music fan here are two CD’s you should check out.
Tron: Legacy Soundtrack

Daft Punk
Daft Punk are electronic music idols. This album does an incredible job of showcasing their abilities as sound-designers and their ability to blend real-world sounds with synthetic sounds, meanwhile making them all seem to sound like they were meant to go together. Listening to the blend of orchestral with electronic, doesn’t feel hokey or forced. It feels natural, and at home. If you’re a synth connoisseur or can appreciate a good arp and filter sweep, then this is an album for you. It’s a great example of using music to set a tone, and a vibe. It’s a great album to listen to if you’re looking to bring more of an electronic vibe to your music and a great album to see how the real-world and synthetic worlds can blend perfectly together.
Collide
Andy Hunter
Andy Hunter is one of the most accessible electronic music artist of our time. Both electronic music aficionados and electronic music newb’s can enjoy his music. What’s great is that he’s a believer and is very much in the forefront, both as an DJ and as producer. His newest CD seems to be a blend of upbeat, fun dance tracks and some introspective ambient moments. “Dawn Vision” does a great job of blending the two at the end with a strong dance feel and an ambient, floating piano melody on top. The opening track, “Raining Sunshine” does a great job of building some powerful soundscapes reminiscent of Andy’s work with Robbie Bronnimann on the “Expelled Soundtrack” while still maintaining that signature Andy Hunter dance sound. If you’re looking for some inspiration for some new music or just some fun music to listen to, “Collide” does the trick.
