If it's good enough for Herbie Hancock…

Posted by Will in Chatter

I was playing catch up this morning watching Late Nate with Jimmy Fallon from Tuesday night and was excited to see Herbie Hancock performing and sitting in with the Roots.  I’ve been a Herbie Hancock fan since I first heard Chameleon.  Herbie Hancock has always been known for being on the cutting edge of technology, never afraid to venture into new cool innovations and try to figure out how to implement them.  I was really excited to see him perform his version of John Lennon’s song “Imagine” from his new album “The Imagine Project” itunes link.  As they were playing I noticed an iMac over his shoulder and an
Akai APC40
sitting on a table.  I’m always interested to see what performers/musicians are running on their computers and since he had an
APC40
I was assuming he was running Live.  Sure enough when the band cranks in you see Herbie reach over throw up a fader and after a different camera angle, I saw what I originally only supposed..Herbie’s rocking out with Live.  Which led me to think.. If Herbie Hancock’s 70 and still on the cutting edge of technology, I have no excuse.  I hope when I’m in my 70′s I’m still trying to be innovative and still experimenting with new technology and not seeking to “settle”.  Oh yeah… and If Live is good enough for Herbie Hancock then you should give it a try!

Check out the episode on Hulu. For those of us that are Tommy Boy fans.. I just couldn’t resist
